Black Cat, AKA Felicia Hardy, is a sultry & seductive cat burglar with a particular romantic interest in Spider-Man. She appears to dislike his civilian persona as Peter Parker however, and disapproves of the idea of "Great Power means Great Responsibility" as holding both him and her from living as she believes they should, "free to have fun".
Web of Shadows (PS3, Xbox 360, PC, Wii)[]
Black Cat makes a major appearance in Spider-Man: Web of Shadows as a boss turned ally. As the boss, she kisses Spider-Man to drain his HP.
History[]
Not much is known about Black Cat's history in this incarnation prior to her appearance during the events of the game. Her statements that she "still" loves Spider-Man implies previous romantic entanglements, possibly even a failed relationship. It may be presumed that she is predominantly a jewel and art thief like in the comics.
Act 2[]
When Spider-Man first encounters Black Cat, she is working for Kingpin. They have a short chase through the city, then a fight which ends when Spider-Man saves Black Cat, after instinctively launching her from a rooftop. At this point, she becomes incensed, pushing him away, and will run off to her penthouse. From there, it is revealed that she was "working from the inside" against Fisk, and gives a brief monologue in which she admits her continued love for Spider-Man, kisses him, and suggests that together they could be "free from want, free from responsibility... free to have fun". If the Black Suit choice is selected, the player can choose to agree with her, joining in a personal crusade against Kingpin to claim the city as their own. Should the Red Suit choice be selected, Spider-Man will refuse her proposition, telling her that he both can't and won't be a part of her plans. In this event, the player will still fight Kingpin's gang, but alongside Moon Knight instead and for more traditionally heroic ends.
Symbiotes Rising[]
If the player sides with Black Cat, she eventually ends up becoming an ally to Spider-Man after symbiotes invade New York. She will help Spider-Man by directing him to areas of concern (deranged civillian or Electroling sighting). However, later on at an unknown point, after a brief absence, she becomes infected by the symbiotes and reappears as an enemy.
Battle against Spider-Man[]
When Black Cat becomes infected, she tries to attack MJ during a rooftop fight with Spider-Man. The confrontation culminates with Spider-Man throwing her off the building, leaving her gravely injured. She briefly loses consciousness and appears to be either dead or dying.
Red Outcome[]
In the Red Ending of this segment, Spider-Man carries the unbonded Black Cat to safety aboard the the S.H.I.E.L.D. air APC, handing her over to MJ to presumably receive medical attention, although her canon fate after this is unknown. She mutters to MJ "He really loves you..." as she is flown away, leaving Spider-Man to pursue Eddie Brock.
Black Outcome[]
In the Black Ending of this section, Spider-Man re-infects Black Cat with his own symbiote to save her life. She is revived & wakes in a new, sleeker symbiote costume which is more reminiscent of her usual costume, featuring an abstract Venom spider motiff cut out from the chest. She is embraced by Spider-Man, proclaiming "I knew it... I knew you loved me", as MJ slowly begins crying and yelling for the APC pilot to "get us out of here... oh God, get us out of here!", hanging her head in sadness as she leaves.
Final Black Ending[]
In the Final Black Ending of the game, Black Cat is still possessed by Spider-Man's symbiote and, following Venom's death, becomes a sort of "Symbiote Queen", ruling over the symbiote hordes of New York alongside Spider-Man, even addressing him as "sir" and calling back to her previous insinuations that the city would "be theirs".
Alternate Black Ending[]
If the player achieves a Black Suit ending but did not choose to infect Black Cat, she will not appear alongside Spider-Man. Instead, he will be portrayed to rule over the symbiotes alone.
Alternate Red Ending[]
While Spider-Man remains in a relationship with MJ in the Final Red Ending, an alternate cutscene will play out if the Red Suit ending is achieved after infecting Felicia. While Felicia does not herself appear in this ending, Spider-Man attempts to call MJ to explain his infection of her, but receives no answer. This may imply that the event causes Peter and MJ to break up.
Web of Shadows (PS2, PSP, DS)[]
In the PS2 and PSP versions of Spider-Man: Web of Shadows, Black Cat appears as a minor character and eventual boss.
History[]
Black Cat's past is not explored at all in this version and nothing is mentioned about her and Spider-Man's past.
Spencer Smythe[]
Spider-Man eventually gets a call from Spencer Smythe, regarding the fact that he has captured Black Cat is using a mind control device on her.
Attack on Spider-Man[]
Smythe then pitches Black Cat against Spider-Man who eventually defeats her. The player then gets a choice: either kill Black Cat out of disregard or save her from the mind control.
Appearance[]
In Web of Shadows Black Cat's appearance is a close adaptation of her comic self, having white hair, a slim curvy body and prominent cleavage. She wears a black, half-unzipped skintight leather costume trimmed with white-fur, alongside a black domino mask, choker, & red lipstick. If she is infected with Spider-Man's symbiote, she gains a new costume which, like her original, is skintight and black, but possesses a Black-Suit esque hue, and several "clawmark" cutouts along her bust, torso, arms, & legs, seemingly forming an abstract Venom spider. Her mask in this form is more jagged than her original, and the two sides are disconnected in the middle.
